We have sold everything and are currently living aboard our 42 ft Catalina sailboat "Jammin".
After spending 30 yrs in the nursery business, and Helen spending 30 yrs teaching, we are about to take off on the adventure of our lives!
Life is good here in Portland Or.. The only catch to total freedom is Helen still has to finish out this year of teaching. She has to commute 1 hour south to Molalla, spend 8+ hours doing curriculum work for her district, and then suffer through about 1 1/2 hours home because of traffic. She will be doing this until mid June. At that time we will be off cruising on the boat for as long as we still enjoy it Our current plans are to head to Alaska next summer then in August or September head down south to Mexico. We will spend the winter season down the southern end of the Mexican coast around Z-town and then head north to the Sea of Cortez for the spring and summer. Our extended plans include Costa Rica, The Panama Canal, over to the Caribbean, up the coast of the US east side, and maybe over to Europe. All of that is subject to change and which way the wind blows.
We were able to go over to England for our niece's wedding this past November and spent 11 days traveling around. It was great, but very expensive. The weather was cold, windy, and even snowy before we left. Besides the wedding and visiting with relatives, my favorite part was the ruins of all the castles.
